['frɪzbɪ; englisch] das, -s/-s, Sport: Handelsname für eine tellerartige Kunststoffwurfscheibe mit zur Unterseite eingebogenem Rand. Mit dem Frisbee werden als Freizeitspiel oder Wettkampfsport verschiedener Disziplinen ausgetragen: Weit-, Ziel-, Schnell-, Schwebewurf, Frisbeedisc-Golf, bei dem ein Parcours mit Zielen mit möglichst wenigen Würfen durchmessen werden muss, und »Ultimate«, ein handballartiges Mannschaftsspiel. Frisbee entstand um 1950 in den USA, als Tortendeckel der Bäckerei »Frisbee« zum Werfen benutzt wurden.
